RoboForm, A True Timesaver!

Posted on July 13, 2008. Filed under: productivity | Tags: , |

Most Internet marketers and online entrepreneurs have a tidy little list of various forums they visit throughout the week. Logging into all of these areas and keeping track of different usernames and passwords can be a daunting task.

There’s a free tool on the ‘net that can lessen the hassle of managing all sorts of passwords, and it makes filling out online forms a cinch! Roboform, which garnered the honor of PC Magazine Editor’s Choice and Software of the Year from CNET Download, automates the entire process of entering your password time and time again or filling out various forms to sign up for or buy something online.

With a single click, you can fill out a lengthy registration form, and as you enter your password, it’s encrypted into the system in a secure manner. If you don’t know what password would be a good choice, then the password generator feature can create a hard-to-hack password for you.

With today’s online climate somewhat unsecured, it helps to have a tool like RoboForm to protect you from scams such as Phishing. Phishing is when you receive an email from what appears to be a legitimate business that you interact with, such as PayPal.

When you go to click on the link, it appears to be the real site, such as the PayPal login screen. But you’re not really logging into the real site – it’s a scam designed to get your username and password information for theft. When you use RoboForm, it identifies the real site, and won’t enter your password in on a phony domain masking itself as the real thing.

Likewise, if someone has installed a keylogger to monitor your keyboard for whenever you enter a password and username, RoboForm by-passes the keyboard clicks, so your information is safe.

RoboForm doesn’t have to be kept strictly for home use. There’s a portable version, RoboForm2Go, which runs off of a USB key so you don’t have to install it anywhere.

It’s also useable on your PDA, works in Internet Explorer, AOL, MSN, Firefox, and Vista. Most people who already use it claim they don’t know how they ever got along with it in the past. RoboForm comes free, but there’s a PRO version you’ll most likely buy once you get a taste of what this remarkable tool can do!
